Time is a funny thing

Have you ever noticed that time sometimes seems to move at different speeds? I'm sure you all know what  I'm talking about. For instance when sitting in a really boring class time seems to slow down, like it knows you are in agony and it is mocking you. And other times when you have been really busy you will pause and realized that time has seemed to speed up and get away from you. I experienced time speeding up yesterday. My friend Chris invited me over to his house to watch the newest episode of The Office. That was at 3PM. We just kept watching TV after and talking and we were just having a lot of fun together. When we finally looked at the time again it was 9PM. I had spent 6 hours there and it really only felt like 2, maybe 3 at the most! And whenever another month rolls by I realize how long I have been dating Lyil. It is 6 months now! However it only feels like 3-4. I like the fact that when we are having a good time, we are capable of forgetting about the concept of time and just enjoy the moment. I hope that since I have so much to do these next few weeks that time will do it's little speeding up trick so that it doesn't seem like such a long time until I see my family and Lyil again.

My other thought for the day is, This last week or so I have started noticing the little things in life that make me really happy. Like how the other day I was walking home from school and saw people laughing and that made me smile. Or how people will randomly smile at me as I walk to class. Or how even though it was snowing the other day (which I was NOT happy about) as I was driving home from my friend Dana's house I noticed how pretty it looked as it fell underneath the street light. My new goal is to try and find one little thing every day that makes me happy or makes me smile and to share it. I mostly have been posting it as my facebook status. Give it a try! I have noticed that I have been happier this last week and I think it is because I am remembering the small little things that make me happy.

One Month Left

Well it is crunch time. I am in my last semester of college and the semester is down to it's last month. Finals week starts December 6th. This semester I only had to take 11 credits. Can I just say that going to school part time is lame!!!! The only time I would ever suggest going part time is if you are working full time. I, however, am only working part time. For the first 2 months of the semester I was bored out of my mind! My classes didn't have much homework and I only have one class that has tests at all this semester. The majority of my work this semester had to wait until this last month. I have big final projects in all of my classes due at the end of this month and papers and presentations spread through-out the rest of the month.

On top of all this, 2 of my 11 credits is a practicum. All I needed for this class was 30 hours of work. I was trying to get those hours through the Boy Scouts since that is what I want to go into  after I graduate. Well, I have had NO luck at all finding hours with them. People are so inconsiderate sometimes. They won't return my phone calls or emails. I have a meeting with my adviser next week, and she is going to give me a project. Hopefully it will be somewhat applicable to my future job.

On another note, in one week from today, I will have been dating this amazing man for 6 wonderful months!

Even though most of it has had to be long distance, we have made it work. Lyil is one great guy. He works hard to make me happy and the relationship work. Once I am done with school, hopefully the long distance part will be over. (p.s. my camera is broken so I stole this picture of him off of his facebook. This is him last Christmas, so it is a little bit old and he looks slightly different.)

I wish my life were a little more exciting so I could blog about something other than school. I really haven't done much since my last blog post. I did go rappelling on my birthday at the end of September. I went home a lot on the weekends to see Lyil, and I went to a comedian during SUU's homecoming week. It was Pete Lee. He was pretty funny, and clean. Hopefully something besides school will happen this month so that I will have the motivation to blog about it.

Uh Oh, It's been over a year...

It has been over a year since I last blogged. Who knows if anyone even still reads this. Anyway, a lot has happened this year. Here's how I will catch you all up. I will give a brief update on each month since my last post which was in August of 2009.
September 2009
I was back in school and living in a house with 6 other girls that I didn't know at all. I was kind of depressed about the wedding being called off. This was just a rough month for me.
October 2009
I was doing a little bit better emotionally and was swamped with school. I still just kind of kept to myself though. Nothing too exciting happened that I can remember. I cut 14 inches of my hair off as well this month. This picture is my new hair cut.
November 2009
I don't have much to say about this month either. School was keeping me pretty busy which was what I needed. I got to go home for Thanksgiving break and I got to see a lot of my family. I ditched my glasses for contacts this month and that turned out to be a great idea! I love my new look. This is me with contacts.
December 2009
December is always nice cause school ends half way through the month. Christmas break was great. I got to come home and I spent a lot of time with my family. Honestly it was so long ago I don't remember much.
January 2010
School started again. I really loved my classes this semester. I was in ROTC again and it was keeping me busy which really helped my emotional side. My roommate did a photo shoot with me in my uniform. She is so talented!
February 2010
I stayed busy with school but I also started making time to do things with friends. Getting out of my basement bedroom and doing things with friends continued to help me be happier. I also got a new niece this month. Brookley Ann LeBaron!
March 2010
I got a new nephew this month. Austin Stanley LeBaron! I was just plugging along in school.
April 2010
I found out that I would be graduating in December! This was the best news of my year so far :) ROTC was keeping me super busy. Almost more busy than I wanted to be. I was doing a lot of color guards for all kinds of different events including republican conventions that the Governor was at.
May 2010
School ended and I moved home for the summer. About half way through the summer I went to my friend Melissa's stake institute class and after the class when we were just socializing I met my new boyfriend. His name is Lyil Sperry and is in Melissa's ward. The rest of the month was spent with him and my family. He got to meet most of my family on Memorial Day. He met everyone at once and handled it really well. :) This is a picture of me and Lyil. (it was actually taken at the end of the summer)
June 2010
I was working at Maple Dell Scout Camp. I was doing my internship for school, on top of being a commissioner, Asst. Head Commissioner, and Asst. Program Director. My weekends were spent with Lyil. A lot of weekends I would go to Lyil's concerts. He was playing in a band up in the Roy area. This picture is of the commissioners this summer.
July 2010
I was still at camp. Life was super busy, but I was loving every minute of it. Camp was really great this summer! Oh I don't remember if this happened in June or July, but I will tell this story here. I saved a baby deer's life this summer. We found an abandoned baby deer who was malnourished. My camp director kept it in his cabin for a night and then I got to drive it down to Payson the next day to the vet. It was the cutest little deer I had ever seen! This is a picture of the deer and my camp directors daughter Amanda.
August 2010
Camp was ending. I finished up my internship and passed with flying colors :) I had a couple of weeks in between camp and school that I got to spend with Lyil. I moved down to Cedar City and started my last semester of school. I only have 9 credits this semester. I am working part time as a janitor.
September 2010
I am just plugging along in school. I am counting down the days until I graduate. I have had some interesting experiences this month. My bedroom flooded and mold started to grow. I am currently living with my friend Dana and her husband while my land lord fixes the problem. I am so grateful that I have such great friends who will take me in when I need it. I am also learning how to play the mandolin and learning how to fiddle so that when I move home I can join Lyil's band. On Labor Day I got the chance to walk in the Onion Days Parade in Payson with the Maple Dell staff. We sang camp songs and did Maple Dell yells the entire parade route. I almost lost my voice that day, but it was lots of fun!

Well I hope you all enjoyed this terribly long update! Maybe I will try and write more before next year. maybe...
